Announcement New Trophy Point Levels

Wait, what?
What's the difference between points and trophies? I don't get it . I was a flock master with almost 3,000 points and nine eggs in the old system. then I moved to the new system and I have about 471 trophies in the new system. okay so now do I lose my flock Master status? they honored it when they brought me into the new system. what's the difference between trophies and points ? are points like Ovations and trophies trophies? I'm confused.
so what am I now? ask and by the way how does somebody get 2250 trophies?
I do note that the vast majority of people excited about this are people with a bazillion badges after their name.
How is anyone supposed to make any meaningful advance when trophy points only Advance 10 points of time and seem to be quite far apart on on the attainment scale as far as number of posts or whatever to achieve each clump of 10 points.

On the old system we didn't have trophy points and ovations were private, so titles were earned for post counts. As you posted more and more, you moved up to different titles, eventually getting to "Flock Master" for 5,000 posts, which was the highest title. Now, with the "likes" public we decided to award trophies for them (given and received), as well as post counts and a few other things. The more trophy points you earn through posting, giving likes and receiving likes, the higher you move up on the ladder and earn a different title for each new level.

Hi Sumi,
thanks for the information . I'm going to have to take some time and think about whether this is a social salmon ladder I want to climb. it just seems to me to make 10 trophies 250 units apart. or 50 trophies a thousand units apart... is just...discouraging.
I like my posts to contain helpful or educational content, not just be a joke thrown out here there for a like. so it took me over 5 years to get the nine eggs under the old system. But I was happy I averaged under four posts for each ovation given. I can't do that under the new system.
I don't know, it's a lot to process.... I don't see a way to make this new system personable to myself as an individual . rather it seems to be a social salmon ladder. I may just dump the whole social achievements thing and just enjoy byc for what it is. a great place to get together and talk to other chicken Folk.

To me, It doesnt matter how I got the trophy points whether it if from jokes, bloopers. spending the rest of my life on BYC or good information. I am tickled that other peeps like me well enough to give them and I am honored to be the first wrangler here .

I just noticed the new points system. It's funny I just changed my Avatar yesterday, and now I am crowing! I did like being overrun with chickens though. It was more suitable for me!
