New Way to watch an Embryo Grow Try#4 (Last Video)

You don't need to worry about the air cell if you left a little bit of air in with the egg. Bacterial growth is going to be your biggest worry, that and moving the embryo developing inside. I suggest you tilt your incubator from side to side while incubating: put a book under one side and then the other, to make sure it doesn't get too jostled around. The chalazae (?spelling) - the white cords inside the egg white - help keep everything in place inside the egg, and by breaking the shell it has no anti shock system anymore.

Checked your video out. Very cool, I'm glad it played on my iPad. Good luck!

How about cutting the big end off an egg and leaving it still inside the shell to develop? You'll be able to see inside through the top and will not have to contaminate the albumen with crushed egg shell? You could use one of your beathable bags to put a seal across the top so no bacteria gets in.... just tape it over the hole for a viewing window....

Don't know if it will work, but I'm going to incubate an egg I got a couple of days ago. The shell didn't finish sealing. There's a hole the size of a nickle at the pointy end, so I used a peice of packing tape on it. The membrane is complete, so it could possibly hatch. It came from one of my older BCMs and the color is way off. One end has almost no color and one is brown but there are splatterings and spots of color here and there. I figure if it hatches I can either add it to my layer flock or eat my irst BCM roo.

We'll see.
