New Year Block swap

Great we are at 12!
I was wondering if anyone has picked their fabrics yet, if so could you post them. I'm having trouble with trying to envision how the color or should i say the intensity of color, print, solid would go together. Thank You
As to color I am still mulling over a few ideas. The block I may do (if I can figure it out to do both easy and fabric conscious) is a basic light/dark play. I am thinking I will use my scraps that fit the color requirement for the "lights" and use one dark brown print for my "darks" portion. Thinking the one same fabric will "ground" the scrappiness of the lights.

The instructions she gives is very fabric wasteful and w/ 4 pieces per small part and 36 small parts per block (6x6 small squares within the main 12.5 inch block) x 12 or maybe 24?? blocks is a lot of waste. So I am trying to figure out a way to be less wasteful and make cutting the pieces easier.

Just seeing that typed out makes me seriously doubt my sanity!!!!!!!

@Kassaundra and @katsdar

I'm counting myself as in. Let me know for sure. This one should be a quick one if we get to pick the block! I'm off to the quiters web page to browse blocks!
I can add you, and I will sort the blocks like you sort your granny squares, we just will not all get the same 12 blocks, as long as there are no objections,
I'll count you in

I saw the pictures of Prince George's christening the picture where Pippa Middleton is standing behind the couch, is she pregnant? Did she get married?

I pulled out my entire fabric stash of anything in the color plan last night.
I've picked 2 fabrics for certain, then I've got several options on what to put w/ it. I know we only need 3 but I feel like I want at least 4 & have been look at blocks w/ that in mind.

I don't have pictures (yet) of the 2 fabrics but here is a description-
1) Mustard Yellow (as in actual mustard seeds, not at all bright) w/ a very tiny botanical in a shade darker (more brown/rust) I'd say this fabric is intended as a fairly neutral "blender" . I have 2yds of it and it is buttery soft just want to rub your cheek on it nice. The only drawback is it is a middle, not reading as dark or light so that will be tricky.

2)I have a piece of fabric I've been hording for several years & which I dearly love , it sounds ugly but isn't at all--
The background is cream, on it are small simple daisy shaped flowers primarily in a burnt-orange-rust-brown color, but then also some smaller ones in mustard.
Now I know that sound bad, but this fabric ALWAYS makes me smile when I see it, I think partly b/c is so unexpected, I mean brown flowers?!?
but they are really perky & just dance all over the cream fabric like they are singing "we are gonna be happy little flowers & nothin' gonna stop us" .
I used a little of this fabric in a 40th birthday quilt for my best friend from college a few yrs ago, & have been saving the rest for just the right thing.

So those are the 2 for certain.
For my other 2
I'm leaning toward a dark brown, maybe even solid for #3
& then a rusty-orange-red to pull the other flower color for #4 (#1 the mustard tonal pulls the secondary flower color already)

So overall the look will about match the fall leaves out my window this week.

Hope that helps...

Yes it does, I'm trying to see the(in my mind) the size of the prints, and should the solids or the print be the dominate color, that type of thing, that was why I was asking for pics. I have my blocks picked so that should help.
I'm going to do either Brasstown Star or Arrowhead Puzzle, and stay with the Rail Fence for my second one.

PS I ment 6 of each

I like those blocks very pretty and I am also going to go with 4 colors. I think those colors you described will be very pretty. as long as they are muted and earth tones it doesn't matter what colors we choose, we could even put a dark purple egg plant comes to mind. I am trying to find some burnt orange, a burnt red, red brown, guess you could say I'm going for the reds maybe a dark green and if I find an egg plant I might throw that in there just have to see what is out there.
