New Year Block swap

Ok I'm in
New Years (2014 ) , Earth tones at least 3 colors per block, block of our own choice ; make 12 .
which will make a lovely earth tone "sampler" style quit.

Great early winter project

I'll figure out my fabrics & block pattern in Nov.
& will post pics when I do in case that helps others visualize.

Thanks Kat, yes it was yesterday! Mary and I spent a lovely day driving across the next county to a church. There was an exhibition of quilts advertised which are being given to a museum in Kentucky. We didn't know what we were going to find but figured we would give it a go as there is also a chocolate factory with outlet store in the town! The quilts were fantastic, made by three generations of farmers wife's in your " Deep South" Mary has pictures on her camera , so hope she will post some for you.
Went out with DH and the kids for a lovely Thai meal when I got back. Havnt seen much of DH for the past few weeks as he is on his tractor ploughing, harrowing,drilling,rolling to get next years crop in the fields. We only have 100 acres which is a small farm round here but he hasn't finished much before 9 or 10 pm these last few weeks, I think he was so glad that Mary took me out yesterday!
He only has 2 more fields to go then he's back indoors under my feet and he's quite dangerous then because he starts on all sorts of jobs around the house because he just can't slow down!

Sounds like you had a very nice time. I hope Mary posts pics of the quilts and what museum in Ky I may have to go see them when they get here. 100 acres is still respectable, and I bet he feels every inch of it. DH's in the house is dangerous it could even prove to be hazardous to his health

. I know when my DH was home every night he was underfoot and it seemed I never go anything done.

I have to go to my mothers as she has had heart surgery but once I'm back we will breakfast. She has had Internet put on so I will be taking all of you with me!

I'm am sooooo not a fan of grits, but as bad as they are Hominy is sooooooooooooooo much worse! The other big southern thing is okra.

LOL I was just gonna tell her the opposite. Badly done, Grits are pretty well like eating wet sand, but hominy style ones can be ok, ha ha ha.
& I'm going to fix some okra (stewed w/ tomatoes) from our garden for my DH 'd birthday dinner tonight b/c he loves it while I don't intend to eat any myself.
I do like fried okra, or a small amt in stew. Food tastes are funny that way, kinda depends on what you grew up with...

Grits being like wet sand is a completely accurate description!

Hominy has a odd texture to me and almost no taste except the can taste.

Okra is so completely nasty to me w/ all the slime, corn mealed and fried to almost burnt is almost edible, but stewed!!!!!! you don't even need to swallow, gravity will take it down!!!! lol I can eat okra baby pods (I really mean baby) seasoned and sauted whole, they almost taste like asparagus. There is still some slime, but it is more ignorable that way.


I am a transplanted southerner (I tell people a yankee by birth and a southerner by choice) so that could be why I don't have a traditional southern pallet.
