New Year Block swap

It's a beautiful block! Earth tones too.
I just counted how many angles in a 6" block, this would be the" nightmare before Christmas" for me to try. I am just not experienced enough to take on anything that complicated.
You always have the most interesting ideas Kass
Thanks, it may well prove to be the nightmare before Christmas for me too. I am hoping the paper piecing helps control all the angles and points.

What's that saying "what doesn't kill me only makes me a better quilter" right????? lol lol lol

I think youll find that block surprisingly simple, as long as you remember its a hand craft..not a manufactured product. Paper piece work is really great for points..and Im pretty slap dash on my own stuff, my quilt had finger nail size triangles and worked brilliantly, id never tried it before either. .
I say go for it!
Enablers every one of us ;)

Okay guys this one block I found is still captivating me so I think it is the one, well it is if I can paper piece!!!!! Here is a picture of it, this is not my sewn block though just the one I found for the pattern.

What a beautiful block! A piece of art all on its own! Kassaundra, I can't wait to see your version of this block. I'm sure it will be stunning.

@keepmumsane if we know your blocks are sorta on the way or you need more time we will wait, and of course if they are in the mail we definitely wait and happily stalk the mail man.

@Kassaundra wow beautiful block, I have not tried paper piecing, I may someday have to play around with it, oh what website did you find that on?

I haven't even tried to look for the block yet

That is lovely. I am still way to unorganized/preoccupied with other stuff to participate, but since y'all are into quilting, I wanted to pass this on, perhaps this might be something you'd enjoy in the future. Plus Lanetta's site is awesome, she is in to all sorts of creative great things. Enjoy!

I have been through my stash and think I have come up w/ a color pallet that will work w/ this block. It has a lot more shades of brown then I intended but so many of the colors in my stash are not greyed enough for "earth tones"

This pic is out of focus, I forgot my camera had been turned to manual focus until I had uploaded the pic. But just showing an idea of color anyway.

I have them laid out roughly how I intend to use them (star points and inner square) and background. The background fabric shows baby blue in this pic, but it is really a blue/grey neutral. The inner square fabric is one of my absolute fave's in my stash, is shows bright in the pic buy is really tourquois. I would really like to use a fancy printed stripe, and if I can find one close to this color I will get it, but am really liking this color combo. The two star fabrics on the far rt are much more red/brown then they show in this pic too.

The star point fabric will be used in sets, one square will have all points the same two fabrics, but since this is stash wasn't sure if I would have enough from any one combo. for all 12 blocks.
