New Year Block swap

Oh! Kat the good lord was surly watching out for you and your whole family 2 legged and 4 legged, furred and feathered( fuzzed).
I had the cold chills when I read this, what if it had happened after you had gone to bed, what a nightmare!
I have had plans to make a brooder we can use away from the house and garage, this adds to getting it going for springtime.

We could have had a real tragedy here last night. My brooder which sits on my back porch caught on fire last night. My husband and I were watching t.v. and we heard this strange pop the dogs were out so I figured it was them so I told my husband your turn to check, and he opened the back door and said "FIRE" I ran to the kitchen and got my fire extinguisher. I will add here if you don't have an ABC fire extinguisher please get one ABC's can be used on any type of fire, grease,wood/paper and electrical. I sprayed everything including the chicks because I thought they were on fire too, but God was looking out for all of us, the chicks are fine, little damage to the brooder but the chicks spent the night in the bath tub, 15 chicks in a tub can really destroy it. I really figured I'd loose at least one chick because I was spraying everything and the chicks were covered with the powder. I had just bought a new bulb and I didn't check the wattage, so please check your bulb wattage it should be no more than 250 watts. My brooder can be divided with a piece of wood and at night to keep the chicks warmer I usually put the wood in, I didn't last night it wasn't cold enough and had I the chicks would not have been able to get away from the flames. I finished the cleaning this morning and put the chicks back into the brooder, tho they are not really happy campers but they are too young to go into the hen house and they are on the non burnt side but everyone is fine. THANK GOD.

Oh My!!!!! Glad you guys heard it and were home and awake, that could have been very bad!!!!!

katsdar,

So glad you were there to catch it before it turned disastrous. It is great that you had the fire extinguisher right there, too. Do the chicks have new names like "Lucky Clucks"

Yes I think the chicks have been through the fire and will be pardoned. My DH says that is the closest to live smoked chicken I will get, We had to laugh I was putting the chicks into a plastic tub to take them inside and they are now all white because of the extinguisher my DH pipes up and says their battered now fry them up.
I am looking into a brinsea that is just too scary.

3 down 9 to go. This paper piecing, once you get the backwards thing down really is awesome guys. My points aren't quilt show good yet, but it has drastically improved them, and if you can follow a printed line, count and recite your alphabet you can do it!!! lol

I may have to try this paper piecing there is a block I would love to do

Go for it!

That is what is great about these swaps it really challenges you to increase your skills in ways you might not do otherwise. I also love seeing how others combine colors and patterns.
