katsdar - loving your tree! Looks warm and inviting!
I've finished my blocks, but still need to trim them. It wasn't my first choice for blocks, but I was having problems getting the one I wanted to do into a 12" type block pattern. After a night of frustrating tries, I decided to look in one of my favorite children's books for inspiration. I loved using A Quiltmaker's Gift and A Quiltmaker's Journey by Jeff Brumbeau and Gail De Marcken in my classroom. Not just for story time, but math, art, English, history, etc. I could utilize it in almost all subjects, including those discussions about moral values. I have a couple of quilting books based on the quilts in the books and decided to go with a block that "can go wherever the Northwinds blow". We live in the forests of Northern Minnesota, so I thought it was fitting to do a Northwinds block. The blocks are rather muted in coloring but I think they work. I will try to get them sent out this week.
I have not started my mug rug, but have lots of ideas running around in my head (maybe the reason I haven't started it). It is next on my list of quilting to dos.
