Hi, I'm in Brisbane, Australia.
O Relatively new to chickens. Feral dogs got our last 2 about a year ago because I didn't go and shut the coop door in the middle of a nasty thunderstorm. (Guilt ridden for months).
Yesterday we received 3 chickens in a very small aviary (free).
Madly battling the heat and humidity trying to create a run out of recycled materials that my husband has lying around our acreage property so that we can seperate our dogs from the poor chooks. Consequently the poor things have been locked in all day. Not much we can do about it today.
Fingers crossed, by tomorrow they will have relative freedom in their new run and over the next few weeks we are going to turn an old metal garden shed (heaps bigger) into a new house with lots of space for them.

G’Day from Far North Queensland Zoomum :frow Welcome!

Chicken Sympathy.jpg

We recently relocated from North Brisbane to Forrest Beach and flew our chickens up here because I was not leaving them behind :love Yep, the heat and humidity can be unbearable sometimes but it sounds like you have great plans for them.

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also pop in to the Aussie Thread and say hello.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Best wishes for a bright and cheerful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hi Teila
Where's Forrest Beach?
Merry Christmas and I hope the weather is kinder where you are. The heat got to me this afternoon and my feet have swelled like footballs. Totally weird - never happened before so I freaked out, retreated to the air conditioning in the lounge and left hubby out in the hot to build the run. Do I feel guilty? A little, for not feeling guilty :yesss:

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Good luck keeping your birds safe, I know it's not always easy! Giant runs, I have had to build them for all my flocks, too many predators around here too

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our community! :)
