I was raised on a farm and Poultry was my 4-H project. It is that one passion the drives me to want to become a hatchery and help kids and families have access to this great experience. I would like to open a small hatchery and build as I go, I have 200 acres of land, water and the means to make it happen, Does anyone how and where to begin in buying equipment and being a hatcher for the likes of McMurrary or Strombergs?

Welcome to BYC! I managed a hatchery for 2 years until the owner decided to retire and break the property on which it set into lots and sell them for housing. It was a small hatchery but had a relatively large variety of breeds. Running a hatchery is a very rewarding experience and I hope your dream of doing so comes true.

Welcome to BYC!

I have no idea where you would start. Kelsie has you on some good leads.

Good luck with all your poultry adventures in life and welcome to our flock!
