Hi all,
We are soon to be new mummies to 3 baby chicks hatched 16th July at my sons kindy! Dont really have a clue about baby chicks as my parents only ever bought home chickens that were laying already so a new adventure for all of us. We have our cage for inside all ready to go with heat lamp and they are supposed to come with food and shavings for their box so hopefully all ready for their arrival (except for marbles to purchase to put in their water bowls as i have read they can drown at this age)
I pick up their new coop on the weekend (was planning on building one eventually, however wasnt expecting to get chickens so soon) so have purchased a small size one that i can extend at a later date when needed!
Look forward to reading everyones tips and tricks
Amanda

from another Aussie!

Hi and :welcome

from Adelaide.
Come say hi on the Aussie threads in Where am I, where are you. :frow

Small chicks grow very fast. We got ours at about a week old too... they were ok with the water dish by then!
If it's warm you can let the chicks out in the coop for the day and bring them back inside for night.

I hope you find all the info you need here, and enjoy the site. :D
