Hello all, relative newbie in RI who became a "gentleman farmer" last year with 4 Rouen ducklings. Successcully raised to adults, and had (red tailed hawk) 2 drakes and 2 hens. My remaining hen went broody during the dead of winter. She dutifully sat but we only got 2 ducklings that we found dead outside the coop?

Anyway, duck behavior is quite fascinating, and now she has laid 18 eggs and is sitting again. The 2 males act as bodyguards, walking on each side of her when she comes out once or twice a day.

The 80 lb lab enjoys playing with his new friends, and if the ducks are not getting enough attention, they go behind the dog and pull his tail. Priceless.

Be prepared for more new daddy questions about this batch.

Thank you in advance!
