Newbie here incubation stage

Thanks all for the well wishes on the hatch. This is such an awesome site! Happy to belong to the group!

I'm trying to follow the guidelines. Day 18 began about 3 hours ago, at about 10 PM in NY. Thankfully, NO power outages for our area! :) I candled the eggs to see where the most air is and placed them with the uppermost portion of the air sack into a Styrofoam egg carton with little bottom pieces cut out. Temp is lowered from 99.5 to about 98.5F. Humidity is at 41%. I'm giving another day without turning because about 1/2 of the air sacks are dipping and about 1/2 of the air sacks are still round. No indication of little beaks coming through yet, or peeps, so I don't want to drown any of them! Any suggestions are warmly welcomed!

Happy holidays and hope you have a very successful hatch - hmm. you could name them after the reindeer

~~First hatchling, Day 20. Noticed first pip when I woke up, they went into the incubator on Dec. 7 at 10 pm. This little one was out and jumping over his future hatchlings still in eggs by 2 pm Dec 27. This one is a sizzle, appears at this time to have the frizzle gene, is a grey/black splash with black skin and 5 toes on right foot but didn't let me look at the left foot yet! HAHAHAHA! Yippee! On please be a hen someday! Please please. It's almost 8 pm and we have 3 more pipping. 2 silkies and another sizzle. Come on babies, this little one needs company! So excited! So happy

Congratulations on the first chick! Hope the rest of them hatch safely, and may there be many girl frizzles! And five toes on both feet?

Yes, our little Chicken Nugget has 5 toes on each foot. In the brooder box atm. So far the only one in the brooder box. Chicken Nugget helped the egg to the back right hatch but then tried pecking at it's eyeball. It looks like Chicken Nugget but is a bit slow. We are calling it Fredo, like from the Godfather, when one brother "made" the other brother then killed him. So now Chicken Nugget is in a brooder box, doing great, and wants to be held nonstop. We are falling in love!

with these little ones! Fredo is just hanging out in the same egg carton spot, looks a little tired out. Chicken Nugget and Fredo are both Sizzles.

We got a beautiful 100% black silkie. Unlike Fredo, it hatched and jumped out of it's shell and egg carton and onto the screen and started walking immediately. No name for this one yet. So beautiful though.

to BYC!

Congrats on the new baby! How Egg-citing!

So glad you could join and enjoy BYC!

Out of the 9, 2 were duds, 3 hatched successfully, and we lost the rest. One white Silkie got trapped in the shell and wasn't able to progress with the zip stage. 2 eggs were 9 and 10 days old at first day of incubation and they died before pipping. 1 egg was 5 days old at incubation, may have been a bad malposition, idk but it died in the shell too never pipped.
We have 2 Sizzles, Chicken Nugget and Fredo and 1 Black Silkie, Beak A Poo. We are happy hatchers!
