Newbie here with 6 day old cayugas dying!

Not everyone can get duck starter, but All flock crumble is an alternative it is made for all poultry and can be given from hatch till end of life.

Hopefully you'll hear soon from Metzers they are suppose to be good to deal with and should replace the lil ones for you. Did you ever find out why they were so long in transit.

The tracking# said ETA was Thursday which worried me. Metzers shipment email said USPS will sometimes say they are delivering on Thursday but it actually will arrive on Wednesday. They said 90% of their shipments will arrive by Wednesday. So I called my local USPS office beforehand and left my name and number and told them I was expecting the shipment first thing Wednesday morning and to call me as soon as they arrive. Wednesday rolled around and no phone call. So I called and asked where they were. They stated they were in Kansas City (not sure if it's KS or MO). I asked if I could come and get them (which is 3 hours away for me). They told me they would be on a express route and would be traveling through where I work and would equal the same timeframe had I drove all the way to KC. So I arrived at the warehouse by my work and picked them up at 12pm (which I watched the shipment arrive).

Took them to work, fed, watered them, kept them warm. And all the coworkers oohed and awed over them. But I guess I fall into that 10%.o_O:(

These lil things hatch are tossed into a box and shipped out it amazes me any survive.

I ordered chicks for the first time this year because I wanted all pullets and I was almost sick about them getting here safely. They did and what a relief.

Are you goin to have them send you replacements?

I called and left a voicemail. I'm assuming if they are a family business, they aren't manning the phone on the weekend. :D

That feed is fine,if you have used it before with success. Have nay idea how much niacin is in it. Niacin is very important for water fowl.
I'm not for certain. It's 1/4 way down the ingredient list. So somewhere between 1.5 and 6%. That's pretty ambiguous I know.

I'd just to be on the safe side buy some Nutritional yeast and start adding it to their feed. 1 Tab per cup and they should have this daily till 10 weeks old. It's good protection from Leg problems [lameness] and neurological issues. Or call the feed company and ask them what mgs of niacin is in the feed. They need 125-150 mgs daily.
