Hi everyone,

I am new to the site and a new possible chicken owner. A few weeks ago I began a hatching program with my co-teacher and we were given to two 3-day old chicks to begin and 7 fertile eggs. Over the past three weeks I have become very attached to the two chicks and they are currently residing in my home for the time being. I am scheduled to return the chicks and all of the supplies this coming Saturday, yet am incredibly tempted to keep the 2 older chicks.

I have used this site a few times already and have found so much helpful information! I look forward to learning more and joining this community :)

I would absolutely keep them in a heart beat but my town unfortunately only lets you have hens and roosters if you have 5 acres of land (only a few houses in my town have 5 acres..) So I'm considering on writing to town or doing something to keep them, have to do a bit more of research and see what I can do!
5 acres!? That's just crazy talk. That's enough for horses for crying out loud!
I'll be keeping 25 chickens on 1.25 acres with tons of room to spare.
