Hi I’m not a total newbie to the chicken thing. This is my second flock. The first one I really didn’t do anything special. Did the whole red light thing when little them tossed them in a coop. They were friendly and produced good eggs. Unfortunately we live in the boonies and something tore the whole top off our coop and got them. We were devastated because they were sweet girls. My youngest was very attached. Fast forward many years later and i inherited some chickens from my neighbor. We got them as babies. Did the thing red light etc we held them and hand fed them. Everything same as the others. We these chickens are not like the others not just because different breed but they aren’t mean but not friendly either. I don’t even know what kind they are. I have never had a rooster either so that’s new! His name is Richard aka Dick! You can guess why he got his name lol any way can anyone tell me what kind these are? And if this thing on Richard’s nose is normal or should I be worried (he’s the black one)! Thank you in advance for your advice and help.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Here is a link to our Learning Center. There are a plethora of articles that can help you. We also have a coop forum as perhaps you'll need some advice to fortify your coop so that it's more predator-proof. If you post pictures of your chickens and the coop many here can help you.

Welcome to BYC!
Do you have pictures of your chicks? How long have you had them and what age were they when you got them?
We got them newly hatched at end of April. I have no idea what kind they are. Our neighbor had them wild in her yard and had to move suddenly. So she gave them to me. I don’t know anything about them except they are the weirdest chickens I have ever had. Lol
