I considered solar but hooked up to electric. I have 1 watt LED bulbs night lights in all of my coops. More for me than the birds. You will find a lot of good information here Good luck and have fun...

I have a solar powered exhaust fan, and a solar powered light with a timer and all that jazz, but I can't help with what you're wanting to do. Sorry...best of luck and happy building!
