Our chicks are about 3 weeks old, I believe. As first time owners we didn’t know a lot about breeds etc when choosing chicks. So we went to buy some and asked the guy to help us. They didn’t have sexed or breeds separate so we weren’t sure exactly what we were getting. The guy picked what he thought could be females, but said he couldn’t be sure. So I’m hoping someone could help me identify what we have here lol.

#1 could be a Welsummer? No.3 and 5 look like Speckled Sussexes. Not sure about that feather footed cutie or the black one.
Edited to add: could the black one be a clean legged cuckoo Marans?

I’m confused about the welsummer and speckled sussexes, they look so similar. And the featherfooted one I was told is a bantam, I was thinking leghorn maybe?? Black one I assume is barred rock.

Well the first one is so dark in comparison to any speckled Sussex chicks I’ve had but I am far from an expert.

The black and white one is a Barred Rock, and looks to be male. Although it's kind of at that age where it's a bit hard to tell. Post another pic in a couple weeks and I could tell for sure most likely.

I really hope it’s not a male. I didn’t realize how quickly I’d get attached to the little suckers. I just don’t know if we’re ready for a rooster yet.
