Newbie Thinking about Geese and Ducks

I will need to switch to the chicken forum. It dawned on me that although my neighbor across the way is a nurse, at times she works the night shift. So I am holding off on female geese for now.

I have 6 female Barred Rock coming next week. Hoping I get lucky and just have females. I saw some, in the local Agway today, and I wonder if the darker looking chicks were females, vs. the chicks with more white on them. Not much white.
