Hi, I've had chooks for a few years on and off for the past 13yrs, mainly just for eggs but now also for their beautiful colours.

I've only got a small flock of about 30
Breeds I've got are, Silver Lace Wyandotte, Gold Lace Wyandotte, Plymouth Rock, Buff and Light Sussex, Rhode Island red, Australorps and Arucanas, also some old mixed breeds and ISA brown.

I love watching chooks interact with each other and their funny ways, but mostly I love collecting eggs!

I also do a bit of gardening including veg and fruit.

I have 3 little boys and live on a farm in country Australia and we grow cotton and wheat and corn.I decided to join for some more info and maybe to help others if possible.

Don’t worry - we were all new at some point. The guides link that i posted should help you work out how to post, add pics etc etc.

so I've got a question, a broody that's just hatched eggs has squashed some chicks and has started pecking them also. So I moved the chicks into a separate brooder its 40+ degrees C her with a minimum of 26c here tonight, do I need a brooder lamp on?
