My family and I decided to take a leap and buy some chicks. We have had a coop for two years but have not been brave enough to purchase chicks. Well we did it. We bought 6 baby cuckoo Marans. We bought them at our local Tractor Supply. They are all supposed to be hens but they look different (maybe different ages - however they all supposedly came in the same shipment). Can anyone give me advice? Please say all hens!! They should be 3 to 4 weeks old. We have had them for about 2/12 weeks and Were told a week old when we bought them.
Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there! Just checking in to see if you have any updates on why the difference in wing color pattern on those cuckoo marans?! I currently have three marans, almost 3 weeks old, and they all have the black with white muted pattern that seems overall rather than the stripes...I wonder if it was just the way the feather pattern grew in and maybe they all caught up and look the same now?

Well we ended up with 5 hens and one rooster. He is a lighter color. I am not sure ours are 100% marans. One of them has some orange coloring on her legs. One is a lighter muted patterned and four are darker. Whatever they are we have fallen in love with them
