PEI
When the weather warms up hear in PEI I am thinking of hatching some chicks. I thought it would be a good idea to read up on some things before I start to hatch some. So my first question is is there anything special I have to do with them such as get vaccinations etc. Also is there a certain feed I should give them as the options may be limited in PEI. Or if you have any others tips that you may be able to offer. Thanks for the help!

Breeding stock needs more protein than layer mix provides so that should be increased. Game bird layer maybe? Or a handful of cat food several times a week.
I also put a vitamin- mineral supplement in the drinking water for my breeders.

Your hens and roosters need extra protein to produce eggs that will hatch into strong healthy chicks. If you give the adults a handful of cat food, in addition to their layer mix, this will give them extra protein.

Would 15% laying mash do the same thing as cat food?
