the only way is by pulling/tugging on them or the shell. Other chicks could of seen the umbilical and tugged them out or the shell got pulled or someone tries to hatch a chick when its not ready.Thank you for the clarification @granny hatchet
How did the intestines come out? Just curious for myself

My first incubation i was an eager beaver lol but my 7 yr old said " mama, lockdown means lockdown. Leave them alone" if it wasnt for that child, smh...i wouldve rushed motherr natureIt depends on how much is out too. I try to feed chick yoke water. but yeah, helping hatch is bad. I have to beg people just because there is a "pip' doesn't mean the chick is ready to hatch, and please don't help.
I have the same problem and was wondering.....Can you use rubbing alcohol??? they use that on human babies umbilical cord.Do you have vetricyn (probably misspelled) spray for poultry? U had a chick hatch thst wasnt fully closed and used that 4× a day and it got better...but that is really big looking

The chick hatched on its own. I believe it was a ruptured yoke as there was yoke in the incubator. This is my first time hatching eggs and this has been pretty crazy. It depends on how much is out too. I try to feed chick yoke water. but yeah, helping hatch is bad.
