I figure we might end up on a special "chicken" episode on that show, "Confessions: Animal Hoarders".

Actually, there was an episode where some guy had chickens living in his house because he was in the 'burbs and was not allowed to have as many chicken as he had. He had something like 80 or 100. Can you imagine the smell? Oh my goodness.... They had a couple of the spare bedrooms....

what i did is that i made sure that i had enough room for at least two batches and the coop that i made is very big always a good thing to think big and ahead so that way your not in this postion and stuck

In his house?!!?!

Oh My Gah..... This is why I cannot watch that show!!!

I'm about to have chicks out the wazoo (hopefully!) I'm planning on selling a bunch of them. Luckily I have lots of room for expansion of my own flock... and a very obliging husband. (For now)

He had more than that! Animal Place, where I work, took in 180 birds from him. And he was still allowed to keep some, so that wasn't all he had.

(We still have around thirty roosters from that case looking for homes.)

The best thing to do is try to be responsible about how many you hatch. I never hatch more than I could keep even if they all turned out to be roosters. It's difficult, but it's for the best in the long run. I know how hard it can be to resist the call of the incubator, though. It's seductive, like a siren's song! Just another twenty, or maybe thirty, or while we're at it why not forty or fifty? And if this hatch doesn't go well, maybe I'll just try one more, etc.

Also, original poster, what a cute corgi you have in your icon! I have two corgis myself, they're the greatest!

............trying not to be a chicken hoarder..............

I'm new to chickens and I'll be getting chicks on April 2nd. I also have a corgi and was wondering how he is going to be with the chicks and chicken. How is your corgi with them.
