News Junkies...Who do You Rely on for News?

I watch FOX and CNN, as well as listening to Talk Radio. I stopped watching the major networks about 2 years ago, when their left leaning bias became quite apparent to me. I found that I was not getting the news that was important to me about things that impact my security and safety. Instead the major networks were providing "fluff" or were giving their "version" on issues that they felt I should be interested in. They were way off base on those issues. I get concerned that there will come a day when I will not have the option of selecting these networks and programs, because they were legislated out of existance by the "Fairness Doctrine." When that happens, free speech will have been effectivly silenced in this country and true liberty will be in jeopardy.

The local news/talk radio and the local paper. The internet of course which is just online papers. When I had cable we got Canadian news, otherwise I can't stand TV news.

mom'sfolly :

I was just wondering, with all of us who seem to be news junkies....what is your favorite source for news: talk radio, network news programs, national news networks, local newspapers, national newspapers (NY Times, USAToday, etc), internet news, blogs, PBS, news magazines (Time, Newsweek, etc), NPR, or other sources.

I use multiple sources....local newspapers, nat'l magazines, PBS, network news programs, and news networks.

I watch Fox News Channel (They seriously are the only news network that is truly FAIR and BALANCED) that said, the Clinton News Network CNN and MSDNC (sic) are simply arms of the Democrat Party.

I don't do newspapers. The Arizona Repugnant is simply a Liberal Rag, but I do browse it's headlines online as well as the Salt Lake Tribune, El Comercio (Quito, Ecuador), The Daily Herald (Provo, Utah)

In Phoenix I listen to 550AM KFYI and sometimes to 960... another talk radio station but I don't like 960 so much now since they took Laura Ingram off of their lineup. I really enjoy listening to Rush as I feel he thinks like I do.

On the Internet I regularly read the Drudge Report, Luciann, Real Clear Politics and Town Hall. Every now and then I'll read World Net Daily, but I don't always agree with the editors there either as they are a tad TOO conservative for my taste.

I don't do News Magazines nor do I do PBS or NPR both of which are also almost always too liberal for my taste.

I will stoop to sports coverage from MSNBC (MSDNC) for college sports.

I also have favorites here on BYC who I like to read and from whom I learn many invaluable things both related and not related to chickens.

There you have it.

I get mine from anywhere I can get it, even if it means from those blowhards from talk radio or that absolutely rancid Fox thing they like to call news . . . I prefer to read the info, though, or just listen to my family. I have several members who work for papers and magazines, so they're always a wealth of information, even the ones I fundamentally disagree with. It's much easier to listen to nonsense when it's coming from someone you love.

CNN.com or The Grand Rapids Press are my usual haunts...

I get my weather news from wunderground.com or The Weather Channel. I also spend time on the blog of the local meteorologist.

I'm embarassed to admit that I have learned about some of the most recent news here on BYC!

Other than BYC (

) I watch my local station and my Yahoo home page. I guess you can say that I'm not a hardcore junkie.

I check out both, like Ninja poodles sometimes holding my nose! But, I read Time and U.S. News & World Report. One left one right they sometimes even have the same lead story, but you'd think they were from different countries. You have to read multiple sources. The gap between them is sometimes truly frightening.

The POV in the news can be really quite disturbing. Long ago when I had access without having to pay for them I read the NY Tmes and the Daily News.....wow, you wouldn't think it was the same planet.

I don't do much internet news, I find the formats annoying. I read national news magazines, local papers, watch network news and some cable news networks, listen to NPR and sometimes watch national news magazines.

I like a lot of different viewpoints. As I see it news is about people, and people are the most interesting things on the planet. And the differences are what make everything so wonderful.
