Hey guys. So my NHR and golden comet are the same exact age.
It seems that my NHR is the only one laying at the moment.
They were hatched around 10-5-19.
Should I be worried about my golden?
She's eating oyster shell and grit.
And she for sure has no secret nests.
She JUST started squatting when you pick her up so I'm hoping that she's getting ready to. Fingers crossed!

Are you using supplemental lighting? Chickens need 14 hrs of daylight to consistently lay eggs. We aren't there yet here in VA. I add 2 hrs of light in the morning and 1 in the evening to ensure continued egg production.

My Brahmas do not always need the lighting to lay through the winter but it definitely makes them more consistent.

I know GC are great layers but are they good winter layers? Maybe she just needs a little more daylight or warmer weather?

They free range. Typically between noon till dark they are out running in my yard. Only cooped up at night and until they lay. My NHR lays around 10-noon.

Oh and my coop isn't completely covered. Its inside my barn and the front of it is completely open.
The door screen is temporary lol.
But our dogs keep pretty much anything out of our yard so I keep this up so nothing can fly in or out.

My NHR lays in that top area that they were roosting in but she started laying there so now she doesn't roost there.
They haven't touched the nesting boxes my husband made😂
