Niacin Deficiency?

The liquid b complex is the miracle elixir that is why it’s important to get them on it so fast. Actually you can keep them on it for the 10 weeks just keep the bottle in the frig to keep it fresh. Mine love meal worms and when tiny I’d crumble them a little in my hand before offering then I’d put the liquid b complex over them. That is one way to get the full dose in them.

Hi all!

I have had my ducklings since Wednesday (it is now Saturday night), and have noticed in the last two days, my ducklings are stumbling occasionally when they walk, and are stepping on their own feet because their feet are starting to cross over each other. One is worse than the other two, and he/she has been laying down a lot.

I got some niacin tablets tonight to sprinkle in their food, and I was already putting an electrolyte packet in their water which contains some niacin, which I will continue to do.

Looking for a second (or third, or fourth) opinion. Is it a niacin deficiency? Can they recover? Are there other things I can be doing to help these babies?
Try to find duck pellets. Purina has it. Do a google search and the purina website will show you the closest place to you that carries the feed. I found one about 15 minutes from me and I can see the difference. I adopted two ducks and a drake and the drake has really bad legs problems. He’s four months old and after I was able to find the duck pellets there was no hope and once I started the duck pellets I saw the difference within days. He can walk longer distances and he is not sitting all the time. He seems to be a lot happier.

PS a lot of member will also use smashed thawed green peas and use it to give the liquid b my birds have never been a fan. One thing to remember if you offer anything other than their starter offer a small bowl of chick grit because they need it to be able to grind up anything other than their starter.

That’s awesome! I have to still rec the liquid b to get fast results!

Okay, perfect. How long do I put it in their water? Until a certain age or their whole lives? Like I said, I’m totally new to this so I apologize for all the silly questions, you all have been super helpful, I just want the best for these babies! ☺
Just a few days after the leg issue resolves. Then give them nutritional yeast in their feed for the rest of their lives. Miss Lydia gives you the measurements here.
Once you see recovery switch them over to Nutritional Yeast or Brewers yeast daily until 10 weeks old this is what is rec in Storeys guide to raising ducks. This is their big growing time. So liquid b complex until you see recovery then keep it up for another 2-3 days the switch over to the NY or BY 1 tab to each cup of feed. I prefer Nutritional yeast since it’s flake it stays over the feed better. And has more niacin than BY. But get them on the liquid ASAP.

Thats really neat. My ducks hate pellets though, and my goose won't go near them. Food snobs lol
