Nifty's Feral Kitty Adventure

I'm designing / printing a wobble toy that will have space for a weight in the bottom, and then a "sleeve" for the long part to fit into. From than I'll dangle a sting and then probably the ball I printed, or some chicken feathers ;)

That is so cool! Mass produce it, I'll take 3!

We love this kitty, but gosh she's frustratingly good at killing things. :(

She keeps bringing us cute lizards :(

Growing up I had gopher snakes and western fence lizards (we called them blue-bellies).

Then around the time I was 15, I never saw either anymore... but saw a huge influx of alligator lizards... which are more ugly and aggressive. Not dangerous, but if you get an adult cornered and try to pick it up, they may scare you with a bite that could barely pierce the skin a little.

Not sure if the first two species gone and the new species arrive were correlated / causational.

... then about 5 years ago I spotted a western fence lizard, then more the next year... to the point where they were ALL over the yard. Seems fewer alligator lizards as well. I was so happy about this!

But now we have the killer-cat that is decimating them all :(

So, we try to kick her out at night to kill rats, so she'll be sleepy during the day and leave birds and lizards alone!

Thanks!

Not a ton of exciting news, but a few things:
  1. OMG, she's become SUPER needy of attention! She cries at the door, cries as she comes into the door, and cries as she rubs against our legs... until you start petting her.
  2. She's killing all the poor beautiful Western Fence Lizards (we call them blue-bellies) :(
  3. She's shedding like CRAZY! We have a mit with the rubber bristles on it, and pet/brush her with it. Tons of hair! Then a day later there's just as much!
  4. After brushing and cleaning herself, she'll go outside and roll around in the dirt, then bring it all inside to start the process over again. 🤷‍♂️
  5. My oldest daughter has gotten kitty *mostly* comfortable with being picked up and carried around for a little bit. Daughter is determined to get kitty totally comfy with it. :D
We are all still SO surprised at what a COMPLETELY different cat she is (looks and personality) now compared to when we got her!

We put a bell on our cat to keep the songbirds safe. Surprisingly the blue-bellies learned to hide from the bell as well.
That cat is gone now, but the lizards still have to beware the chickens. There were a few young ones missing tails this year.
