Nigerian Dwarf Wether - YOGI is home...PICS on pg 3

BTW - Change of subject for a moment. I had purchased 2 blue ameracauna chicks from HatTrickSilkies. They are a hen and roo, so this spring I will be hatching out their babies and perhaps selling some of their eggs for hatching.

OMG I love goats...can you tell me how much noise they make? We wee thinking of getting a goat and my neighbor said they are really noisy...I doubt more noisy than my dal/lab mix that doesn't stop barking...Anyway if you could let me know I'd appreciate it.

I would love to have some angora goats...send some pics when you get them.

It truly depends on the breed, I think.

My little guy Yogi is not near as loud as the other two. And my Danny is very loud and sounds like a child in serious pain.

Congrats! He is just adorable, I know you'll fall in love with Nigis...

BTW your other two, I just love, too. Gotta be the ears

We have already fallen. Felt soo sad for him last night. Just leaving his mommy. Danny (My wether) is doing great. Daisy (sweet little Daisy) is the one pushing Yogi around. I am working from home today and can see them from my office window. He got some feed this morning and is able to eat hay. The funniest thing is the dog house. I put a dog house in the goat yard with some straw in it, in case the older two decided not to let Yogi in their house. This morning the two older ones have managed to squeeze both of themselves in that dog house at the same time repeatedly. I wish I could get it on video. Oh my gosh! Yogi of course is standing on top of the dog house.

He's adorable!!! I bet you're excited and are getting to know him. He is a nice looking wether.

Sorry I haven't seen this post previously. I raise Nigerian Dwarfs and have dabbled in Mini-dairy breeds as well. Currently we have 3 Lamanchas that we're going to breed Mini-Manchas from too.

I never register wethers. No point. Now if someone is in 4H and wants to show wethers I will definitely give them the applications to register them. I have heard from other breeders about someone buying a buckling on the bottle who's too young to neuther and later forging the papers to make him a buck. So for me, I often just don't give papers for wethers unless asked. But I don't sell kids under weaning normally either so I can usually make sure they're neutered anyway. I don't keep wethers here though. We always have lots of wethers through the year that are up for sale though since I'm very peticular who is going to be a buck and who's not.

Congratulations on your handsome fellow!

Cute goats! I can't believe the prices on pet quality there. That's outrageous!
I'm registering wethers too. You never know if someone will want to show them. Of course, they can only be registered and shown in NDGA shows. The ADGA won't take wethers.
conroy, they aren't quiet. I have one Nigie who can be heard for a 1/4 mi. He screams and gets my LaMancha buck going too. The ladies are pretty quiet. I think Willie's problem is just an overwhelming need to perform lewd acts in front of the girls. You should get a pretty good idea of how loud the particular goat is when you visit the farm. Make sure you get two goats. One goat will not shut up, will be very unhappy and will likely become destructive and difficult to handle.

Hi All,
I was reading this post and thought I would share with you the farm I got my adorable little goat from. All her goats are ADGA and AGS registered or registerable. She breeds for milk quality/ quantity and good confirmation and health. She had about 60 head when we got our goats in Sept. She said she wanted to do a herd reduction, so we got our nannies at a very good price. I paid $100 for mine. We got the Buck for VERY VERY cheep. I talked to her recently about possibly getting another buckling in spring. I think she has her herd reduced where she wants it now. Her babies average between 200-250, sometimes she has some in the $100-150 Range. Just gotta ck it out and talk to her. She is very nice lady. She is in Gainsville btw.

So is it normal for Nigis to stand a lot. My other two ate their morning feed, had some hay and are now laying in the sun, soaking up the warmth. Yogi on the other hand remains standing on top of the dog house. I do feel bad, I think he is looking for his momma. I think of the book "Are you my mother?"
