I have a brown leghorn who has decided she'd like to squawk at 3am!!! The first time it happened I went out to check but nothing was wrong, last night it happened again, twice! Any ideas as to why this girl has decided to make night time noise!? It doesnt sound like shes in danger, its just a normal squawk that sounds like when shes waiting her turn for the nesting box but has never left an egg at that time. I dont want to get in trouble but I also dont want to get rid of her. Has this ever happened to anyone? Please Help!

Is there any possibility that a predator is trying to get into the coop?

Theres always a possibility but we already had rat problem where I'd find droppings in the nesting box & this was beginning of winter and even then they never made noise. The first time it happened I went out there and didnt see anything. So why now?
