Nipple waterer, Why did I not do this before... (Video)

I use a 5 gal bucket and a PVC pipe with 4 nipples on it. Gravity feeds the water; the far, capped end of the pipe is just a tad bit lower than the other end. (This also allows the shorter chicks to reach it more easily.) Have to have holes in the lid on the bucket otherwise a vacuum develops and the water won't drip.

I bought my nipple waterers online from FarmTek - buy several, or you'll be annoyed with the shipping costing more than your 2 or 3 nipples!

Mine is a gravity feed 5 gallon bucket with 8 nipples on 10' of pipe. I have about 18 layers, 2 roosters, 25 pullets, and 3 turkey's drinking from it. I fill the bucket every 2 days.

The pipe has a threaded male end on it stuck through the bucket and a threaded female coupler on the inside. It just screws together through the bucket.

What happens in winter ?? Do you switch back to the traditional waterer so the pipes dont freeze? do you think they will switch back to a traditional water for winter?
