yes thewarriorchild and I met and she was wonderful, I am so glad that this bird could help out, and she helped me out by adopting gimpy my splaid leg EE bantam. The whole thing was just great I am hoping her daughter is none the wiser about the switch and happy about the new addition
That Gimpy is a trip! If it isnt totally blocked of light into her cage at night she talks up a storm!!! Her cage is just inside the next rooma nd I can see her cage from here. I want to make her a wheel chair or something poor girl. If the leg did not seem broken higher up there is some odd bend there that sort of moves like an extra elbow, then I think if you splinted it she could get up. I think she needs a friend. I will have to consider that choice carefully. She loves to sit with me and my daugher when we are working on the computer.
As for our new Foofy we have been so busy she hasnt really noticed. She slept over last night so she wasnt home and we had church in the morning. Basketball game Sat night, we have been busy. She is in the garage and I am keeping her seperated till I get rid of the roosters and I am sure she is ok, her poop was a bit runny so I want to get that fixed first. Could just be different food. Now she hasnt said anything to me about peeking in the cage New Foofy is in but she may have just peeked in in passing or did not bother to say anything about who I was caring for inside. We have had so many in and out this winter. She also has been busy keeping up on school work. She is homeschooled. Ok I know Foofy doesnt sound like she is that old but she is 14. I do not know where she pulled that name from because all out other ones were named with more normal names... I dunno. I just know she loved her. Sammy is her other love and she was with Sammy outside today while we rounded them up for the night. I am so grateful for the chicken, after our bear attack we almost gave up all our chickens but some on here encouraged us and I did not give up. After the shock and terror started to wear off I knew I wasnt going to be beat by this especially since the bear was taken care of.
I was so glad to meet another BYC'er!! It was such a pleasure and I got to meet a wonderful lab also. I used to breed them and miss them! I look forward to maybe seeing a bunch of us in Sussex or maybe I will do a chickenstock this fall
lol gimpy always had a night light maybe that is why she gets so chatty in the dark
As for the leg the avian vet said that it could not be splinted because of the way the hip rotates outwards he said he had tried to splint others with no sucess. He did say that amputation was an option though. The problem is the hip will not allow you to get it back into the proper possition for splinting.
It was very nice to meet you as well, I cant wait until the chicken show will see you there!
Ya know sometimes you can not win......Foofy our FEMALE seen her lay eggs hen started CROWING today...anyone got a female silkie mix?? Maybe I could claim I found a mate and we would just get confused???
