In another strange turn of events (like life isn't full of those), as most of you know, that have been following this thread, Buckbeak, my silkie hen, who wasn't showing signs of ever being broody, has now gone broody...lol

Go figure, I'm 2 hours shy of day ten in my boob hatchery

She has been sitting as if she is in some type of coma since yesterday morning and has one egg under as of right now.

We have had to set up her own little condo in our living room (spoiled little brat) and I made her this way, I am the only one to thank lol , it has come down to feeding her via spoon, because I am now very worried that she is not eating enough, even though I know she is...you should have seen her devour her usual yogurt, cream cheese and oatmeal breakfast....silkie royalty

As if she wasn't lazy enough already....

So here is my dilemma, number one, is it normal for a silkie to lay there like a strung out junkie, I mean she's sweating, dozing off and letting me do everything? lol, Number two, should I give her the boob eggs now... or continue the experiment and give them to her when they go into lockdown?

Oh yeah...forgot to tell you, she went into some type of crazed silkie pecking spree a little while ago....ouch, it only hurts for a second, but how it can strike so much fear into a full grown adult is amazing...

I'm not sure. While it is a fun experiment,in your shoes the further the chicks got along the more I'd be scared to bust them on my bust. Now it wouldn't just be yolk, it would be a bloody dying chick in your bossom.

I certainly wouldn't blame you for letting her have them and seeing if eggs half-way chest incubated can thrive, but you would need to take the egg she has now or else when the boob eggs hatch she will assume it is a dud after a few days and abandon it.

I would worry with 10 days ahead of the one she is siting on she would abandon it if she had two others hatched out to care for. But silkies are known to be a bit weird. So it might work

I'm not really concerned about them breaking...I figured if that was going to happen it probably would have happened within the first few days...but thank you for giving me something else to worry about lol...I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't want a bloody dying chick in my bra.

My biggest concern is that she won't take care of them because she is still young...she's under a year...only 7 months old as of yesterday (ironically the day she went broody)
