No. Calif. Chickenstock June 5, Kelseyville! memories and pics, p. 42+

I'm wondering-

Is there a limit to how many chickens/chicks each person can bring?

Is there a specific container/cage they should be in?

Is there a family size limit?

Can we bring any other pets, like dogs? rules regarding if yes?

Are we just doing chicks for swap, or all sizes?

Should we post what breeds, ages, and sex chickens we are bringing so some of us can plan ahead?

How far is the site from stores and shopping?

Are there any hotels in the vicinity? Restaurants?

We have 5 kids, so we need to be prepared for anything, because if anything is going to happen, it usually happens to us!! LOL
I think we would like to camp for the night too! Fun!

these are great questions! I think kelseygirl will have to answer the question about numbers of chickens, and other pets, as well as questions about amenities in the area.

I would say that the cage needs to be secure, and have food/water. I also think that anyone planning to take home chickens/ chicks will need to bring a cage or box appropriately sized for the trip home. As far as I know, both chicks and started birds would be good for swap. If you want to bring a bird older than 1 year, please be honest about the age and condition of the bird. NO SICK BIRDS! If the bird is not laying regularly, then that should be stated. Personally, I would rather people just stick with swapping younger birds or chicks. What do the rest of you think?

Time for everyone to tell us how many are coming, as well as what task you can take charge of.

Okay peeps, what say you?

Well I can answer a few.

As for other pets, They don't really have a place to pen up dogs, ours and theirs will all be locked in the house, so they don't bother everybody and the birds, plus our 2 like to harass the horses, which is not ok, because 1 they are boarders, and 2 they could get kicked, and we will be in the same general area as the horse stalls. So if you have a way to maybe kenneling them or something during the actual event, you may be able to work it out.

As for shopping and restaurants, The town of Kelseyville has general stores and small restaurants, or Lakeport is about 2 miles up the road and has fast food and restaurants, plus bigger stores like K Mart, Dollar Tree and Major grocery stores, or Lower lake is a few miles in the other direction and they also have Fast food, restaurants and Wal Mart. For hotels, Konocti Vista Casino and Hotel is nice, and just up the road about a mile, or there are smaller hotels within Lake Port and Lower Lake, or Robinson Rancheria Casino has a Hotel, and I believe they are in Upper Lake.

Oh and just for an Idea, I will be bringing a baby play pen to hold my chicks, and Maybe a dog Kennel for my older chicks.

Okay peeps, what say you?

As for number of birds you can bring, I say bring as many as you can handle, as long as they are contained and healthy we have no problems with you stuffing your car with chicks

Will bring some black and white silkie and frizzles- 6-7 weekers, Only if I get a PM requesting them for swap.
(belt hatchery stock, bought a few to many, its way too easy to pick up "just 2 more" every time I go to the feed store!)

Give me a chore list and I'll pick out what I can handle as far as stuff that needs to be done or brought!

I Can do Paper Plates, Utensils, Napkins and Table Cloths. Will we need paper cups, I'm guessing no, because who ever does drinks most likely will just buy cans or bottle water.

I will be bringing a couple of 6-7 week old Silver Laced Polish, and hopefully some week old geese, an possibly day old Cochins, and Serama's. I will have BLRW, but I most likely wont sell any until I can sex them and chose which ones I'm keeping.

Oh, will I be doing the tables for displays too? I can probably find them, but if anybody has a table than can easily bring to show off their goods, that would be awesome!
