http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org/ Livestock show is Junior only (4H, FFA, or independent youth) Poultry show June 23, & I can't tell when they go in & go home.

http://www.sonomacountyfair.com/nscf_competitive.php says birds for sale not entered in the show (if I read it right) will be accepted on a space available basis. Show birds go in August 6 at 7am & home August 8 at 6pm. I entered a bunch there, wish me luck!

Thanks for the info! I'll try and make it to those. August 8th is my birthday so maybe I could get a present for myself;). Is it like a dog show where the judges handle to birds individually and give them the award or do they just look into the cages and apply a ribbon?

They usually take them out & handle them, with or without the owner's presence. (I had to work last time so came back to check for ribbons).
See you there! I better get a BYC tshirt... my sweatshirt will be too hot by August!

Also, if anyone is nearby or wants to travel a little for it, my local fair (Nevada County Fair) always has a decent selection of poultry AND the fairgrounds are gorgeous.

I just sold some birds to a family who are going to show the birds I sold them at the fair. I can't wait to see them there!

Also, the coturnix and serama babies are doing great! Two of the coturnix died after I got them home, unfortunately, but the other five are doing excellent and all four of the seramas are thriving. One of the coturnix is a tibetan colored one, which I'm excited about! Here's a few pictures:

Hi Sunny!

My babies aren't really babies anymore. They are huge! I'm guessing yours are, too. The pullet I got from you settled in without any problems. She very quickly grew a tail. My one bird still doesn't have much of a tail. They are now trying to get acclimated to the coop. I put the big girls out in the tractor, and put the youngsters in the coop today. No freeranging for them until they figure out that the coop is home. All six birds have learned to get along in the tractor with a minimum of pecking. If I can get them in the coop together, then I will see this as a success. They aren't really roosting yet, though. I think I will have to teach them.

eta - I just put them on the roost. The big girls seem disturbed by them, even though they are on a lower roost. The youngsters are peeping and upset. They are used to being on the floor of the brooder. I didn't prepare them well for this.

I'll go see if they've settled down later.

I need to take more pics. School just ended Friday, and things have been crazy!

eta - I checked on the chickies, and two of the babies had fallen off the roost. The third was stuck between two limbs.

I decided to just let them sleep on the floor tonight. At least they're in the coop.

But, their gangly, awkward side is showing.
