Hi, I am new to this group. I don't have any chickens right now as I live in the city, but my mother has a farm and she and I talk chickens a lot. I used to have Bantams along with Bard Rocs (not sure if the spelling is correct on that), but the Bantams had the most beautiful fearhers. I got interested when I read a comment by watching a video on goats clearing a forest about how Araucana chickens could survive around Cooper's hawks; I think that's what it said. I'm always interested in breeds that have some sort of self-protection as my Bantams did when they were able to fly from dogs that came on my property some years ago.

Hello and welcome to BYC!

No particular breed of chicken has protection from predators, if you live in an area with lots of danger, building a large run and use supervised free ranging is your best bet. Some use guard animals or roosters, even electric fences to keep their flock safe. Welcome to our community!
