I've just heard about no crow collars for roosters, would these work on a goose? My guess is no, otherwise i'd have heard of them sooner?

I'd never heard of them but apparently they work by diminishing the air in their air sacs. That sounds dangerous? Are you having trouble with them making too much noise?

Yes, it's a goose though and I don't think it would work as a goose doesn't have the same air sac that a rooster would have - I'm just brainstorming ideas to try keep them as quiet as posisble.

Geese are just liud, especially when upset. Their voice works differently than chickens, just like most poultry. It is how the neck is shaped and the movement it takes that cause a crow collar to work. Those wouldn't work in quail or guineas either

Yep, loudness is just the nature of the beast :) it's a survival instinct to honk loudly whenever there's a threat, so I figured there's not much you can do about that, instead we removed triggers wherever possible, and taught them that certain unavoidable triggers are not scary. My geese are housegeese, so I guess it's a lot easier for me to do that than it would be geese who are always outdoors. Is it just the loudness in general that bothers you? If it's at night, I've found they're more likely to be quiet if it's pitch black, as they don't want to give away their position. I hope you can find a solution!

My geese are pet geese - the noise doesn't bother me per se, but the neighbours have begun to complain - i've started bringing them in at night and they don't really cause a fuss then, but i do have to let them outside during the daytime; The neighbours are still not pleased and said "the sound is piercing" and "I wouldn't have thought it was acceptable for all the occassions of noise"😡

Really annoys me because it's only natural for them to honk now and again and I can't lock them up all day!!! it's not like they're honking all day long like an abandonned dog or something!

I've got tarpaulin up screening them from any passers by but that doesn't seem to have done too much. I think my neighbours should just stop bloody moaning! haha

Gosh, that sounds difficult to deal with... some people are just not very tolerant. I'm always worried our neighbours will complain, but my neighbour told me he never even hears them. But I think we've just been lucky with tolerant neighbours to be honest!

Is it the passerbys that triggers them? Could they be calling you, their missing flock member?
