How deep do you bury the apron?

Just under the surface should be sufficient. But there is usually no need to dig. If there is grass around the coop just place the wire mesh on the ground (stake it down if you wish) and let the grass grow through it. If you don't have grass around the coop you can cover the apron in a layer of dirt, mulch, or small-sized gravel.
