no eggs.. sad face..

I'm surprised your red sex links arnt laying yet. I have 5 of them. The 1st one laid before 16 weeks. Another at 17 weeks and they had all layed at their first egg before the 19th week. They will be 21 weeks on Tuesday and I have a total of 78 eggs so far. They are averaging more than 3 eggs a day since the 1st week of August. I've had one day with 5 and 6 days with 4 eggs. My question is how many hours of light are your chickens getting? I think this is a big issue with a lot of chickens not laying. I propped my light up to 16 hours a day. I have a bulb come on at 4am. I figure I myswel get eggs before winter hits. Have they started squatting yet? Are they getting calcium? Do they free range at all?

they are squating for ol copper all over the place.. not for me though.. noooo egg again.
is it a bad thing if nests look laid in... someones been in them i can tell. they must be doing it early in the morning or sonewhere in the night because ive checked around 12am and they were on roosts ..all of em. unhappy with me i might add for the desturbance.

That's great. If they are squatting they arnt far off to the first egg..ill bet less than a week.

u should put golf balls in their nesting boxes to encourage egg production

The use of golf balls, fake eggs, etc is not about encouraging production - it is about encouraging the desired place to lay once the bird's body begins to produce eggs.

Anytime between now and 6+ weeks from now - are you seeing indications of them getting close such as the reddening of combs/wattles, a submissive squat, interest in the nest boxes, etc?

today i was in kitchen and heard that song.. everyone (not. the younger just a couple including roo) seemed to be doing it. unless i misstaked it for the danger sound howevrr they all take cover.. instead they were standibg around listening.. two hens and roo came from the coop when i went out. yet no eggs... huummmmmm ill go check coop over better might been snake indide!

well everyones been telling me about a week or twi. when i noticed my girls submitting ir squating fir the roo it was two weeks and about three days when i got my first egg theres only two of my birds doing that right now.
