I never expected the richness of colour to be so different! The storebought one looks unappetizing in comparison. Must admit, the taste was pretty similar (although I of course preferred my backyard egg).

My Granny had chickens all my life. If she had chickens running late, she would make a pan of regular corn bread like you would eat. BUT... she would add 3 tsp. of cayanne pepper. to the mix befor baking. It worked every time. 3 days later she always had eggs. She used this method for at least 35 years that I know of. YES, it does work! I have seen it! repeatedly.
