LEGHORNS DONT NOT GO BROODY OTHEN, AND BECAUSE I DID POST PICTURE OF MY POOR BIRD SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN INDICATION TO YOU THAT THIS IS NOT A JOKE

Oh for goodness sake, dont freak out. How else would anyone know if you were kidding or not!!! Have you seen the other posts today? ITS A P R I L F O O L S D A Y, give me a break, we were all replying to you then got nothing (probably attending to the hen which is good), but dont jump my hide because of all the crazy posts today

I asked a serious question, i asked if she was laying on eggs.

I ALSO HAVE A VERY VERY YOUNG SON THAT I HAVE TO ATTEND TO BECAUSE HE EATS EVERY TWO HOURS AND 3 PUPPIES AND A FEW OTHER ANIMALS AROUND THE BARN THAT HAVE TO BE ATTENDED TO. iM TRYING TO SAVE THIS POOR CHICKEN BEFORE MY HUSBAND COMES HOME TO CULL IT.
******************* THIS IS NOT A JOKE************

With the exception of going to a vet, I don't think that there is much more you can do. Are any of your other chickens acting strangely? I hope she starts to improve.

no, no other chickens are acting weird, I actually got an e g g from them today but they little leghorn i guess is done because theres no way i can afford to call a vet for her.

I'll take the hit for this one - and I offered my apologies in my previous post - I'll offer them again - my apologies. I misread your previous post on 3/30 as 3/20 (which I posted and edited, and apologized - please see it on 2nd page at the top).

However, you did get replies to the posts there on 3/30 - and, after reading through alot of your posts, I was the one that questioned the validity of this post (given it was April fools day) and that there were so many other posts you'd posted that did not return to answer questions on when others had replied. It's happened in the past on here, so.... again, my apologies to you - but I hope you can see where it came from and the validity of it all. When one posts a question - and others reply - regardless of what it is, one expects the OP to respond, especially regarding a sick bird (not just talking about this post). In several other posts you thought this bird was broody, and got advice on that...so I hope you can understand where the confusion came in from several factors. Again, my apologies.

Now...as for your situation...

Are there any new updates on your bird? Can you take additional pictures of her since the pictures you provided were taken apparently on 3/30; 2 days previously to this post yesterday? It would be very helpful for those that have experience in this to be able to see the bird in its current state. Some have said the birds comb and wattles looked purple; its hard to determine that when you use pictures from 2 days prior, current ones would be better. If she's broody - (which you say you doubt now - and I dont know if meat birds go broody..but stranger things have happend I'm sure) - put come gloves on and pick her up - is she sitting on eggs? Easiest way to tell. You have to pick her up to examine her anyway, as you've been advised to do by several on here - you need to do that at a minimum in order to see what is wrong with her. Is she egg bound (again...you mention she's been laying for you)? Is her throat blocked? Is she gasping? Have you taken her out of the box as suggested?

These are all questions that were asked before that havent been answered yet.... we simply need more information and pictures if possible.

I hope she gets better for you.... hate seeing a sick animal.

I apologize as well if my post sounded like I was disbelieving you...I was not, I just assumed you were attending to your hen, and it sounds like your plate is quite full with other things, too.

Hang in there! I hope your girl made it through the night. Can you post updates this a.m.? Is she eating at all? Have you noticed any poop? Is she breathing okay - as in, are you hearing any sounds when she breaths? Is she able to move at all?

**** update on the little leghorn ******
She actually stood up today and I notcied some poop and a little water missing ! she did nibble on some lettace but doesnt want anything else I also gave her a little bit of plain pasta yesterday and it was gone by this morning! her comb still looks odd but i think shes getting a little better !

OH! This is good news! Hey, have you tried cooked egg yolk? Not an entire egg, but just the yolk? I had one hen that was ill and would not eat a THING. And I tried everything under the sun. I then cooked (in the microwave) 2 egg yolks, crushed them up, and offered them to her and she gobbled them right up! It was the only thing she'd eat for a week, so I just kept cooking them for her, figuring it wasn't a balanced diet, but it was better than her eating nothing. After a week, she weaned back onto her regular feed. It worked!

yep, good news that she's at least trying to eat!

I was going to say have you tried blending her crumbles with scrambled eggs or just plain eggs like Wynette said. How about Electrolytes in her water, I think you can use pedialyte if you dont have chicken formula. What about Apple Cider Vinegar? are you treating her with that?

What did her poop look like? What does her crop feel like compared to your normal birds?

Keep trying to get her to drink and eat but keep the diet soft, the softer the better. If her crop is hard, try bread pieces soaked in Extra Virgin Olive Oil and give her ACV/Water mixture for 24 hours.

Miss Prissy has a wonderful post on here (do a search) regarding crop issues. But we really need to know what her crop looks like to know if its an issue or not. You said you made her throw up a few days ago... is that still an issue?

Pedialyte is about $2.00 a bottle.. its not very much.

Oh yeah... I also saw that you arent giving your birds oyster shell? Are they getting any type of calcium supplement at all? Make sure they get grit and oyster shell, its important for them to be able to produce eggshells (oyster shell/calcium) and the grit is needed to break down grains in the gizzard or they will get really sick.
