No hens for me this year.

No way I would give neighbors any eggs.....what happened if he got poisoned or sick with salmonella from your eggs or needs something to pick at about your eggs? Forget it!

Go and find out for sure if you can have hens and build a privacy fence (a TALL one) on his side. I have that same problem with next door neighbor, a nosy busybody that needs to find something to do and complain to the city officals all the time. Not just only me, but other neighbors as well.

This year hopefully if money allows, buy a privacy fence, one panel at a time LOL!

Maybe you could have a block party or a little BBQ or something and invite everyone and pay him a little special attention, asking his advice etc. Sometimes in a more relaxed atmosphere he might lighten up a little and he would feel a part of things. He probably has a history of being antisocial with the nieghbors and could be balking on this issue to be negative and feel important because he knows his vote is needed. Perhaps improving relations between everyone might help.

I remember someone posting that they have these exotic rabbits from China they keep in a cage, they are all silkie and fuzzy and never make much of a peep. Two or three in a large rabbit hutch, with the box on an end for sleeping, as these rabbits usually don't roost, I think some have very hard to see faces? Hum.

FEED HIS EGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd rather play spin the bottle with a live rattlesnake.

I am a live and let live type of guy, that believes good fences make good nieghbors. What happens on my side the fence is mine, what happens on their side is their's.

I have a nieghbor who is constantly concerned about the state and condition of a drainage canal that is on my property. Just last Sunday Jan. 31st, he approached me while I was building fence on the front boundary of my property. He made mentioned that he believed the culverts on my property were partially plugged up. Now this is the same man that has the road ditch dammed up with concrete in front of his house. As politely and concisely as I could I squared off and told him to carry his old @$$ back across the road and don't even look at what is on my side of the road. He was to worry only about his property and I would worry about mine. Strangely enough, he hasn't spoken to me since, imagine that!

Over the years I have endured constant interferance from nieghbors where this canal is concerned, I understand my community responsibility, all the property I can see from my front door is drained by that canal. However it seems that my nieghbors do not understand their responsibility to me, they are content in allowing raw sewage into the drainage, they throw debri of all types into the ditches, that is then carried by storm water into and onto my property.

So in concerns of the OP. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quit playing his game. For instance, how about painting your side of the fence. Chickens ain't allowed, okay. But I'd bet dollars to donuts that some sort of domestic animal is allowed, and it doesn't matter what kind, he'd go nuts about any kind. Next time he approaches to talk to you or lecture you, face him, square your shoulders off, look him in the eye and tell him to carry his ugly stupid conceited ar$e back to his side of the fence and mine his own bidness. Good nieghbors are valued, bad nieghbors are a pain.

I'll go out of my way to be a good nieghbor, but never assume that I give my nieghbors the right to walk over me.

DAG people can be annoying! Sorry, I hope I helped and didn't just make you more frustrated! Blessings, Keri

PS..MY motto is do it...then if you have to get permission later:lol: if one day he realizes that there are full grown hens in your backyard...what could he possibly say? Ummm...there...not making any noise...not pooping on his grass...I mean really even if this went before a judge what could he possibly bring against you?

Amen Brother.............. and if you feel Rude trying to get a word in edgewise then you probably don't think he is as rude as you say he is otherwise you should have no problem telling him how you feel whether he's talking or not. People earn respect and I don't think he has done anything to have earned yours.

Sounds like you neeed to put a filtration grate in the canal where it (and water) enters your property. Anything other than liquid would be filtered out and left on the property where it was dumped--wouldn;t help if they dumped liquid garbage, but it would help with some stuff. Chances are that tossing sewage or any other hazardous waste into a drainage canal is illegal (likely state and federal laws, as well as possible county or local ones).
