You don't need a lot of space to raise quick meat.I curious, what advantages do quail provide? I don’t know anyone who keeps them. When I was a toddler my dad used to apply birdshot to wild ones in the front yard. But that was 40 years ago.

I just went to the grocery store on Monday to do my grocery shopping. The store I go to is called Kroger and they actually have a clearance fruit and vegetable section where they put all the stuff that is still good but on the verge of going bad... I buy a ton of it for my chickens. I love the idea because they are not creating more waste, but I'm sure they still throw away a lot of things but this is still a step in the right direction. But we already produce enough food to feed the planet too. Like the food needed to feed the whole planet already is grown each year, just much of it is lost to waste. And some biofuels - much like cattle - can sequester carbon.
Like I said - a heck of a mess.

Yeah.. Kroger is very good, I always buy the starting to be black bananas from the clearance section to give to my chickens and rabbit.I just went to the grocery store on Monday to do my grocery shopping. My chickens like eggplants, squash, grapes, and tomatoes. They'll eat other things but those are their favorite. I bought limes from the clearance rack for myself. There was nothing wrong with them, they are perfectly good for juicing.Yeah.. I'm just wondering, how come everyone that mentions god and uses bible verses in their signatures are okay, but Ted_Harrell, which mentions god only once, gets exposed?
That's not right![]()
48-50.That is interesting. How many quail would I need to equal a dozen hens in egg production considering lay rate and egg weight? I have a household of six and I share with other households. Could I put chickens and quail together?
I wouldn't house them together either. I'm putting my quail cages in the free range fenced in area I have, but the chickens will have no way to get the quail since they're caged and the cages will be about chest high.48-50.
I don't think I would house them together... I'd be too afraid the chickens would kill the quail.
