I'm in Long Beach, CA and 1 of 3 houses with chickens in the neighborhood. If anyone has any hot tips about where to get interesting chicks in the LA vicinity, let me know.

Hi Jen and welcome! That's great that you have others with chickens in your area!

What kinds of chicks are you looking for? Midway City Feed Store (Westminster/Huntington Beach area) has chicks year-round, but usually the very typical variety. They will order for you, though but I've never done it myself so I don't know if they have a minimum.

I'm new here....just a wee chick...but I'm in Northern California, not far from Yosemite Park. I was born in Southern California, near Santa Barbara....but I can't stand L.A.......there are way too many people in So. Calif....makes me edgy.

Nice to meet all of you....I've recently found my chicken obsession.

I lived in Ventura county on and off for 41 years!! DH lived there for 40! We now live above Frazier Park. We also try to avoid going to bakersfield, although there are some businesses that we do need to go there for.

Actually I was born in Oxnard. My whole family is still in the Oxnard/Ventura area.....annual family campout is coming up at Emma Wood....total beach lover here, there's nothing more therapeutic than boarding and catching that wave! I just wish I could enjoy it more than 2-3 times/year. But I love my peaceful mountains and serenity. Keeps my head in check.

Lea, Most of my years in VC were in ox & PH. A few in Cam. DH was in SP until we met, then he moved to PH.

Born and raised in Riverside County. Left when I was @ 30 for no. cal.

I don't think I'd return to Riverside but it doesn't mean I don't love the memories of growing up there. AH to eat a Grinder from D'Elias again.

Now we live in UT. If we had the $$$ we'd probably return to CA. Miss El Dorado County sooooooooo much. And Dh grew up in Mendocino County - Ft. Bragg.

We do like where we live. Just miss the family in CA.
