The lard buckets are a great idea! I was going to try to use a squirrel baffel for a bird feeder and try to attach it to the top to the waterer. My peeps are messy too. What kind of bird toys does everyone use. I want to get mine some so they will quit fighting so much.

I looked at squirrel baffles yesterday at TSC and the ones they have don't quite seem large enough in diameter to cover a large feeder or waterer. Anyone know of anyone who sells large diameter ones? I might see what I can scope out in the housewares dept. at Big Lots or Dollar General that could be converted to a baffle for the coop. Maybe one of those XL plastic salad bowls?

BTW, the margarine bowls and lard containers aren't completely fool-proof, but it sure has cut down on changing the water a lot.
