These laws are getting out of hand..its getting scary the control our govt. is taking from us..law by crazy law...
its a slooow, sneaky, well planned process, (so the people of America dont freak and riot ..) but it IS happening nontheless...
Our basic rights are being taken away..one ....at.. a.. time..*shivers*
Wonder when the 'only allowed one child' law will take effect?? Wondering when it will be illegal to speak aganist our president...*ooh wait! they already banned FOX news..* hum... yeah, getting pretty scary here.
just my opinion..so keep your bashing to yourselves..you wont change my views..

I work on a large healthcare campus and they banned smoking anywhere on campus last year. I am sooo glad! People would stand outside the entrances and the smoke would draw through the building. There were cigarette butts everywhere(even though there were disposals for them). The nonsmokers got two breaks a day and the smokers got breaks every couple hours because they "had to have a smoke".
There is no reason there should be smoking allowed anywhere near a healthcare facility.
I think people should be able to smoke if they want but not in public places.

I know it's hard for people to quit but I really have a hard time understanding why people still choose to smoke.

Now I agree that a job and place of business has the authority to ban this... but the government making another law? I think not.

I have never smoked and don't plan on starting any time soon.
I also never liked being in a resturant where smoking was allowed (now against the law in Louisiana)
I would just hurry and finish my meal and leave. I don't like to be too close
to someone smoking, not because of any health worries about "secondhand smoke" but
I just don't care for the smell. In a case like that I just get farther away from the smoke and smell.
It's their choice to smoke or not smoke and my choice to be or not be around it. Walk away if in a public place and you do not want to be around it.
That being said, how many of you all go to a Dr.'s office or even the hospital and are asked if you smoke? Then
if you do smoke you are warned all about the dangers of smoking and about how you need to quit. BUT, then you
go to leave and see all of these Dr.'s and nurses standing around outside taking a smoke break? Have even seen them here standing under an awning that barely kept the rain off of them smoking after warning everyone they need to quit.
Reckon they tell everyone to quit so that there would be more available for them?

I started smoking when I was thirteen. I thought it was cool. I was a little smart a--. I quite when I was twenty-three, the night my daughter was born. I figured you could not tell a kid not to do something if you were doing it.

PERHAPS we should make it "illegal" for Gov't Employees to run those confounded "leaf-blowers" which just blow dust all over and pollute the air. While we're at it, let's get rid of those "dust-producing" street-sweepers!

We just DON'T HAVE ENOUGH LAWS !!!

(I'll BET that NONE of us go through a DAY without breaking a law of some sort.....that we don't even know exists!)

Let's have ANOTHER LAW ! foolishness

There are so many things that people do everyday that pollutes the lives of other people somewhere else everyday. People that didn't ask for it. It's laughable how ignorant the majority of people are about how they pollute the health of others.

I'm done with this thread.

Okay - so I have to chime in here...

I am a smoker - not that I say it proudly, but I admit it.

I am not ignorant. I am addicted.

I've tried the patch (burned my skin), the gum (tastes terrible and the texture made me want to gag), lozenges (nevermind!), and even Wellbutrin and Chantix (Chantix made me flip out - screaming/crying uncontrollably/suicidal thoughts.) Quitting cold turkey when you live with a smoker is awful - I gave them up for three weeks last summer...

I am aware of the rights of non-smokers to breathe freely. I do not sit in the smoking sections of restaurants (when you can find one still) because I hate the smell of smoke while I'm trying to eat. I don't smoke in the car with my kids in it. I don't smoke in my home. I quit when I was pregant or nursing my children. I stand downwind from non-smokers while I'm outside.

I am not ignorant. I am addicted.

I started smoking when I was fourteen - thinking I was "cool" or could fit in somehow.

When I take a smoke break it is for (maybe) five minutes. I do not abuse my work time. My co-workers stand around talking and/or gossiping for much longer each day.

I am not ignorant. I'm addicted.

When in public, I never leave my cigarette trash on the ground...it always ends up in the garbage.

I am not ignorant. I am a smoker who will become a non-smoker someday. I hope that I have the class to refrain from calling smokers "ignorant" when that day comes.
