No waste chick feeder? Is it even Possible?

So being bored with this stay at home policy due to Covid-19 I decided to try to cut back on the waste by chicks.
In the 5 gallon Bucket I use to have elbows in it. I decided to try something a little different to see if it would work better. Using what I had around I ended up with an flower planter. The 5 gallon bucket has 2” holes drilled about 1 1/4” from the bottom.The flower planter has 1” holes in it as close to the bottom of the planter as possible.

This could be made many different ways. For one I would prefer to use a funnel upside down in the middle of the feeder instead of the round feed holder but that’s what I had on hand. I will surely post back letting you guys know if it cut back on waste.

Thanks for the idea. I was just getting ready to order a feeder. This makes so much sense. I was just talking to my mom about how much less my brothers cows waste now that they are eating out of a feeder. They still fling it around and eat all the leaves first, but when you rake the more stemy stuff out they eat it instead of driving it into the ground.
