It looks like there are 3 that are the typical silver color, and 2 that look like your cinnamon chick. There are also 3 that are really red? I'm not sure what these are. As they fluff out better, their coloring gets more distinguished. Any ideas on the red ones? There are pics of all 3, but 2 were new babies, so they weren't fluffed very well yet.

Had to go outside again, and there was another chick out when I came back in!!

That makes 14 so far, out of 48 eggs set! Not bad, and they aren't even done yet!

Not sure on the red one... that's a new one. Maybe a new "special" color?

You definitely have enough now to pick and choose your breeding pairs and start your own colony.

I'm so glad they are hatching for you!!

sounds like they may be redbreasted you had mentioned (which is why i think you're doing great at IDing because i agree)!

Edited cuz i didnt mean to submit it then my stupid comp froze. ANYWHOO what i wanted to say was that I thikn they could be anything from redbreasted cinnamon (yes a combination), OR even a cinnamon blue face, both of those combos seem to make them look much redder. If you'dlike once it poofs out take a pic for me and I'll add it to buttonquailsUSA. I do think it's mixed with cinnamon if it's red though, but it sounds like it may be a combo color.

Darth Vadar can be red too, as if im not mistaken Darth Vadar is a cinnamon combo as well

(the hens are GORGEOUS when mature---prettiest color in hens of button quail IMO). Saw em at the breeders.....wanted one so bad but wasnt gonna pay $40 for ONE BIRD! LOL!

After you put a few more into the brooder you can start to play my favorite game.......

Try to see how many squirming, wiggly popcorn babies you can pick up with just one hand!

I think my record is 12, you have to scoop quick.

And for the record I only said you'd get 2 to hatch so you wouldn't be to disappointed. It really was a gamble to ship eggs at this time of year from Alaska all the way to Kentucky. You definitely beat the odds.

I'm up to 15 babies now!!
Oh and i have tried the how many can you pick up game!! There are only 10 in the brooder so far, the other 5 are in the bator still. But I can get all of them at once, if they are all piled up!
gig.gif

My 4-year-old tried that game before he left for school this morning...ho got 2
tongue.png

I have been wondering if it is not better to ship them when it's colder (maybe not as cold as it is NOW where Mr & Mrs AK are) but since we're supposed to keep them cool anyway, as long as they're in a truck I don't think they would freeze, unless it was REALLY cold. idk, but I am having much better luck with these eggs than I have had with any eggs I've had shipped so far!! Out of 51 eggs from before, I got 3 chicks (1 button, 2 A&M). Now out of 48 that were set, I have 15!!! And I don't think they're done yet!

Just be patient... they can draw it out, if they want to. Sometimes they all hatch within 24 hours, sometimes they'll take a day-long break, then start hatching in a flurry again. Wait until you've had 3 days of inactivity to shut the hatch down.

Y'know... I did WAY better on my hatching late in the season, too. I shipped in eggs from all over this last summer, and my best hatches were the two after I swore I was done for the season.

I think it needs to be cool at both ends of the trip, and away from the holidays/hurricanes. I had a couple of my outgoing shipments delayed due to the hurricanes this year... not good.
sad.png

Oh goodness, I'm sure the hurricanes would wreak havoc on eggs! Just from the wind shaking the truck if they were already loaded would be enough damage, not to mention the delays it would cause! Maybe it's just because they were your birds?
big_smile.png
I would have done better with the ones i got from marie if I had known what I was doing. I had 7 or 8 out of 20 that had developed at least, but me being stupid killed most of them! The first A&M's I got were mostly destroyed by the P.O., but I would have had a few more if I had done better. This time, I had these in a still air bator at ~100 degrees, with at least 50% humidity the whole time. Evidently it worked!!

One of the babies sseems like it may be a bit spraddle legged. I will wait till later and band-aid it if it is. I have some itty-bitty band-aids somewhere around here.

I hear another one crying I wonder if it's a new one??
jumpy.gif
I'll be back, need to go and check!
big_smile.png

---Nope, just a cry baby!! But I do have another one zipping!!
ya.gif
That will make 16!!
