noises

My roo makes many many noises. His warning call is a loud "ewwwwwwrrrrrrrrr". His treat noise to the girls is a soft "bok cluck bok cluck bok cluck bok". The only noise he does that I don't understand is when he does this weird laughing noise, it's like "hak hak hak hak hak".

Mine do the laughing noise too.

My barred rock's warning is this high pitched loud noise, sounds like something you'd hear from Jurrasic Park.

One of my jap pullets did the bok bok bagok thing and her DH came running over..............and pecked her kinda like telling her to shutup LOL

Its so funny reading all the noises - and I'm totally "making" the noise you spell out in my head! (If I did it out loud I'd get sent to the loony bin for sure!)

One of my girls constantly makes a little moaning noise. Kinda like a concerned person sighing. I can tell her apart from the others because she makes that noise.

I've heard mine make the gurgling sound when they've been afraid.

I've heard them purrring when they're taking dust baths.

And I've heard them yell "Hurry the heck up!" when I'm on my way with grapes!

Oh I forgot to mention I do have a couple of girls (white leghorns) that make a loud yelp like a lil puppy. It's so weird. I also have a Barred Rock that follows me around everywhere and clucks nonstop. She won't leave me alone. I just named her Lucy since she's the only one that does it and I can tell her apart from the other Barred Rocks

This makes me think of the joke about two vultures sitting on a tree branch. One looks at the other and says "Patience hell, I'm gonna kill something!" When the girls are ready you will be picking up lots of eggs Trisha...LOL

i have a 21 week old EE from whom i am anxiously awaiting eggs. Couple weeks ago i heard her outside very loud and repeatedly "BOK BOK, BOK BOK, BOK BOK, BOU-KAAAAAAA!"

i thought "cool, here comes an egg!". Ran out to find her on the patio standing as straight and tall as she possible could, head way high. i looked around and saw a neighborhood cat had jumped the fence and was up on top of our storage shed. She was clearly going to stand her ground and either scare that cat or beat the fur out of him if he dared come down.

My rosecomb banty makes a WEIRD noise ... it's a very high pitched ... ummm ... I don't even know how to describe it. It sounds like all the air being let out of something through a very small hole. Almost like someone stepping on a squeak toy and deflating it in less than a second. It's a very quick, high sound, and just ... WEIRD!
