~non emergency ~ Hen unusually calm post fox attack?

Thanks for sharing this!
I’ve often wondered why oats are never included in scratch grain mixes.
Now I know why.
I’ve been mixing them into my scratch for almost a year now.
I read this article and I’m not going to feed oats anymore.
Interestingly, my birds would only eat them after nothing else was left.
There are plenty of other yummy things they can eat that are nutritious.

I read the article and I understand it.
However, my hens literally almost NEVER get oatmeal.
The first and only time they have EVER had oats in their lives was 2 weeks ago. That's it. So, I don't believe my hens are suffering from one meal of oatmeal in their entire lives.
I personally feel a little oatmeal is fine as an occasional treat, especially if it helps spark appetite.:)

Soak their regular feed. Microwave it to warm it. Add some electrolytes. My chickens think this is the best treat ever!
I used to give oatmeal on cold days. I feel so good giving them this just to ensure they start off the day with a belly full of quality feed. I read about it for years just didn’t think they’d go for it.
Now I feel like a bad mommy. They are so intent on eating it not one takes the time to bully the others off the bowl.

Noted! For sure I will make this tomorrow!!

How are your hens?
I made a hen saddle out of VetWrap for the bitten one. She acts like she's dying wearing it but I swear to God, she is fine.
She goes back with the flock tonight.

The Australorp has refused to eat EVERYTHING given to her. And she still won't drink. I kicked her back to the flock to see if that will solve her issue.

Ya, hopefully being back "amongst the living" will snap her out of it. Who knows what's going on in totality with her at this point. Keepin' my fingers crossed for you and her.

Thank you! It's beyond me what is up with her. Like jeez, I have never had a chicken so uninterested in living.
