Non vet remedies for inner ear infections?

Rooster has had a bad case of wry neck for almost two weeks. We've tried vit e paste and selenium, red cell and b complex.

My husband thinks that inner ear infection might be the issue. All the symptoms fit. The closest avian vet is 2 hrs away. Is there any treatments we can get to help him without a vet? This is our last option before we consider euthanasia.

How old is your rooster and what is his normal feed routine including treats and supplement BEFORE the onset of this wry neck paralysis? Is there a reason to suspect a vitamin debt? Any chance he got into poison.. rodenticide, pesticide, herbicide, oil spill, rotten compost, upset neighbor, etc? Ranged or confined to a run? Something new blooming/growing suddenly?

How is his appetite? Did you have another thread that you started already with information and wish to link? How many birds in the flock, in how much space, how long have you had them and where did they originate? What breed? Ever treated for coccidiosis in the past? Had a fecal float done to check internal parasite load (mail in ones MIGHT be an option). Have you inspected or treated for external parasite load?

Have you already looked at Marek's or other age appropriate avian related conditions?

Have you seen any improvement, decline, or change at all? Can he stand up? How do his eyes look? Many thing can look similar to Marek's which torticollis *can* be a symptom of. So please don't jump to that conclusion without cause.

I'm sorry you face this! It's never easy when one we care for is desperate for help and we are giving our all.

Consider adding your general location to your profile as it may help folks make their best suggestions possible at a glance with regard to what resources you might have available, weather pattern, etc.. The example I'm leading with since I didn't recognize a specific brand name like TSC etc.. is..

If you're here in the US and you do decide to euthanize.. which is what I would do personally. Ear infection is highly unlikely, wishful thinking in my honest opinion.. though I don't blame you you AT all for throwing a hail Mary.. I have been there, and unfortunately done that in some way or another even if not exactly..

Long story short sending a bird in to one's state poultry lab to get a necropsy and help determine/identify cause of neurological symptom being seen can be highly informative moving forward with ones flock and adventures Here is a link to the contact information and another with relative information..
